The “hose”, a metaphor, refers again to the analytical mindset of readers within the final part of the poem. ‘Introduction to Poetry’ by Billy Collins is a free verse poem of contemporary literature. Some stanzas only contain one line whereas the comparably lengthy stanzas include only three traces. However, the poet makes use of some occasional slant rhymes within the poem. As an example, “light” within the first stanza somehow rhymes with “out” within the second stanza.
